Why Are Dental Implants the Preferred Tooth Restoration Procedure?

Posted on 1/25/2021 by Dr. Shaun Rai
Why Are Dental Implants the Preferred Tooth Restoration Procedure? If you need to replace missing teeth or wish to remove irreparably damaged teeth, implants provide a permanent restoration. Not only do they feel natural, but they also significantly improve the appearance and functionality of the smile.

Making the Choice for Implants

Implants are the closest you can get to having natural teeth. Therefore, it is easy to choose them to replace missing teeth. You just need to make sure you have enough supporting bone to hold the implants or artificial roots. If you do not have enough bone, you can see about getting a bone graft or undergoing a similar procedure, such as a sinus lift. In some cases, we can place mini-implants if you don't have enough bone to anchor the restorations. You also need to have healthy gums. If you do have gum disease, you will need to have it treated and arrested before you have your implants placed.

Why Patients Select Implants

Patients like implants because they function like natural teeth, and they make it possible for them to replace missing teeth in one of a variety of ways. For example, you can use implants to add dental crowns or fixed bridges or use All-on-4 implants placed fixed dentures. You have a world full of possibilities available to you when you have implants placed to restore your smile. People who have removable dentures also like implants, as the restorations fuse to the jawbone and prevent further bone resorption. The addition of the artificial root stimulates bone cell regeneration. Therefore, with implants in place, you can maintain your facial profile and preserve jawbone as well.
