 What is Teeth-in-an-Hour?
Teeth-in-an-Hour is an amazing technique that allows patients to receive fully functional teeth on dental implants in just one procedure that takes only about an hour. Nobel Biocare only recently came up with the technology for Teeth-in-an-Hour, which allows the restorative doctor and the surgeon to collaborate. By combining knowledge and experience, we’re able to place dental implants much more precisely and much more safely. We also fabricate the final prosthesis before the surgery begins.
Before the advent of immediate load dental implants, patients had to wait several months after the surgical placement of the implants before they received the final restorations. The waiting period ranged from 2 to 6 months or even longer depending on the jawbone’s condition and the implant’s position.
The Teeth-in-an-Hour procedure is used to restore one or multiple teeth. Patients who undergo this procedure have less postoperative discomfort, swelling and bruising. They usually can resume their regular activities the following day.
How does the Procedure Work?
We begin the process by taking a CAT scan of the patient’s jawbone. The scan is used to produce a 3-D model of the jawbone that is used in virtual reality software to plan the process of placing the implant. The patient’s presence is not even necessary, resulting in a more accurate placement for the implant and less waiting time for the patient at our office.
The implants fit perfectly into the surgical sites we prepare for them, so there is hardly any healing time needed for the bone to refill the gap. The implants we produce are ready for immediate use, and we can load the restorations swiftly without a waiting period, hence the name immediate load implants.
